The Kalachakra Tantra more properly called the Kalachakra Laghutantra, and would be a shortened form of an original text, the Kalachakra Mulatantra no longer exists. Some Buddhist masters assert that Kalachakra is the most advanced form of Vajrayana practice and that is why he refers to a Buddhist deity, and is certainly one of the most complex systems in Tantric Buddhism.
The Kalachakra tradition revolves around the concept of time (Kala) and cycles (chakra): cycles of the planets, the cycles of human breathing, it teaches the practice of working with subtle energies of the body on the path to enlightenment. The Kalachakra deity represents a Buddha and thus omniscience.
Indeed, since Kalachakra is time, and that everything is under the influence of time Kalachakra knows everything. Whereas
Kalachakra or Kalichakra, her husband and spiritual complement realizes all that is timeless or outside the realm of time. They are forever united.
Thus the wheel is without beginning or end.
